Film star Shah Rukh Khan, who is also a co-owner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), on Friday said that it depended on the injured captain — Gautam Gambhir — whether he would be playing in the Champions League Twenty-20, which starts on September 19. Gambhir, who returned from the England tour after suffering from a mild concussion, was included in the 15-member KKR squad, announced on September 4. Asked to clear the uncertainties whether Gambhir, who for the first time led KKR to the top three in the IPL, would be playing in the Champions League, Shah Rukh said it was unfortunate that he was injured. “He is suffering from so many injuries. We are in touch with him. But final decision to play will be his. If he is not there, we will ask him to come and cheer us in one of the games,” Shah Rukh said. “Professional players have to take their own decisions. In sports, there are injuries. Injuries have to be carefully handled by team managements as well. We try to do it at KKR,” he added.
