first_imgFinn Harps goalkeeper Lee McCarron celebrates the Centenary Shield success with Mickey McGlynn.A strong Donegal connection was present as the Republic of Ireland Schoolboys side won the Centenary Shield for the first time since 2010 following a 1-1 draw with Scotland in Edinburgh this evening.Finn Harps goalkeeper Lee McCarron played the full 90 minutes for Ireland and produced a solid display.Finn Harps manager Ollie Horgan, coach Willie O’Connor and physio Mickey McGlynn were all apart of the Irish backroom team. Ireland were actual crowned champions last week against England at the Sligo Showgrounds, so tonight’s fixture lacked the competitive edge the international fixture usually would have.However, the Irish side showed why there worthy champions and produced a polished and professional performance throughout.Cork City player Conor Ellis put Ireland ahead at half-time, but a spirited Scotland side battled back and deservedly equalised in the second-half.Congratulations to the Irish side and to all the Finn Harps contingent involved in the team’s success.
