The main event of Fivestar Fight League 14 on Friday at the Fort St. John Curling Club will pit welterweight champion Duncan Wilson against Aaron Shmyr. Wilson enters the bout with a record of 6-4, while Shmyr out of Rossburn, Manitoba has a mark of 5-4.Wilson admitted that he doesn’t know much about Shmyr but that hasn’t had an impact on his training, or his mindset leading up to the main event.“I don’t know anything about Aaron Shmyr. I’ve just been focusing on my camp and getting myself ready in all aspects. He has kind of a boxing and wrestling background. He’s a strong guy, so he’s going to try and lay it out there. I like to fight like that too so it should be an exciting fight.”- Advertisement -Things are a bit different for Wilson this time around compared to the last time he stepped into the cage in front of home town fans. Entering as the champion this time however, as oppose to feeling pressure to win the title as the challenger hasn’t affected the way he views the fight.“I treat every fight and every opponent like it’s the biggest one. I treat Aaron Shmyr like he’s 15-0 and this fight could get me into the UFC. Even though that’s not the case I treat every fight seriously. This one is the most important one to date and the next one will be more important than that.”As mentioned Fivestar Fight League 14 will be held at the Fort St. John Curling Club on Friday night. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., followed by prelims at 6:30, and the main card at 7:30.Advertisement For ticket information you can contact Fivestar at 250-785-2736.
