Danny Welbeck WILL hit the goal trail at Arsenal, insists Gunners great

first_imgDanny Welbeck will prove Louis van Gaal and his critics wrong and hit the goal trail for Arsenal, insists former Gunners striker Tony Woodcock.Welbeck was accused of missing too many chances during his time at Manchester United, with Van Gaal pinpointing his less than impressive goalscoring record as the reason for his decision to sell the striker to Premier League rivals Arsenal this summer. The 23-year-old duly drew a blank on his Gunners debut against Manchester City at the weekend, prompting more claims he is not ruthless enough to be a prolific hitman. But Woodock, who netted 68 goals in 169 matches for Arsenal, is convinced Welbeck will start firing after a regular run of games.Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, he said: “I think he is a really good player. He is a good age, he has got a great physique, he is quick enough and he can link up play.“Everyone is always going on about the chances he is missing but if you look over the last couple of seasons he has scored some great goals and I think, if he has a regular run in the team, then he is going to score goals.“He is going to be a great asset for Arsenal.”last_img read more
