I showed I could be part of this team. I still didn’t expect to play so much because I know I’m at a top club with great players,” he explained.“I’m a bit surprised that everything has been going so well. I’ve played well when I’ve featured. Deputy Chief Management Officer Named DODs New Personnel Readiness Chief

first_img Dan Cohen AUTHOR Peter Levine, the Pentagon’s deputy chief management officer, has been named to succeed Brad Carson as acting undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness, reported Military Times.Levine, who was confirmed by the Senate last year for his current post, will take over as the department’s top personnel official when Carson departs April 8, according to an e-mail Carson sent to his staff. DOD officials were not available to confirm the appointment. The undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness is responsible for overseeing military and civilian personnel policy and total force readiness, including quality of life.Carson has been the acting undersecretary since April 2015; he announced his plan earlier this month to step down in April. The decision followed a confirmation hearing in February during which lawmakers accused him of presuming confirmation and violating an obscure law that prohibits nominees from assuming their posts ahead of Senate confirmation, according to the story. GOP senators also derided his work on the Pentagon’s Force of the Future initiative, a broad set of proposals aimed at modernizing DOD’s civilian and military personnel systems. In his current role, Levine is the senior advisor to the secretary of defense and the deputy secretary on business transformation and leads the department’s efforts to streamline business processes and achieve greater efficiencies in management, headquarters and overhead functions. Previously, he served on the staff of the Senate Armed Services Committee from August 1996 to February 2015, including two years as staff director, eight years as general counsel and eight years as minority counsel.last_img read more
